In a village by the beach, Smong the Dragon wakes up from the
seabed. The villagers get panicked. Everyone runs to the hills, but
Banta is not afraid. Together with a large sea eagle, they face the giant
dragon to get back to his sleep. How does Banta do it?
The book introduces children to the local wisdom of Smong, a
term used for tsunami danger in Aceh. With engaging illustrations
and storytelling, this book serves as an enjoyable educational tool for
children.
This book is also part of the Room to Read series, a children’s
book development program created in collaboration with a non-profit
organization in the United States focused on children’s education and
literacy.
