«Mediators» duology by Daria Budantseva
Witches, wizards and animagi live among us, walk along the same Moscow streets and take the same subway lines. But, also, they don’t value human life very much, so meeting them can result in death. However, mediators from the Ministry of Magical Supervision, who protect mere mortals, don’t allow them to create chaos. A century ago, mediators learned to borrow magic from wizards and forced magical creatures to obey the law. Now the animagi are fined for transforming in the wrong place, and wizards are forced to go through the procedure of the migration registration.
Many still haven’t come to terms with this state of affairs. War is coming – the magical creatures unite against the Ministry. The witch Zoe has her own reasons of hating mediators – because for the ministerial hounds, she lost a dear person.
The major of the homicide department, Yana Voinova, lives for her work. Three years ago she already suppressed the Rebellion of the Sorcerers and is determined to do so again. Whose truth will prevail this time? Will equality or freedom win?
