"BEAST-44" by Eugene Rudashevsky on the list "White Raven 2023"

Every year, the International Munich Youth Library published the White Raven list, 250 publications selected among the best from around the world by the International Munich Youth Library experts.

In 2023, KompasGuide Publishing house is honored to be included in the "White Raven" list for the ninth time. This year the Munich Library acknowledgement is particularly important for KompasGuide like never before. Indeed, in the difficult context since 2022,, "Beast-44" is the only one Russian book included in the list!

We are very touched by the trust placed in us. This award give us the hope that people all over the world will one day definitely hear each other in a world where dystopias will never come true again.

"Beast-44" is a terrible machine from a dystopian future, a terrible mobile crematorium mechanized caterpillar,  allegory of the meaninglessness and inhumanity of every war. 

Eugene Rudashevsky « Beast-44 » speech is about an unnamed country where peaceful life is a half-forgotten souvenir, but also about a world that still hopes for an event that could change everything. In this world, cities ravaged by wars and death have become a commonplace thing. Some attack, others retreat. They work on Beast-44 : Tusk, Headlight, Grey, Goblin, Brick, Ladle and some others. It’s not the most pleasant job ( in fact a sickening one), but it’s necessary.

As the author himself writes, his characters seem “torn out of reality, invented by someone and forced live in the world of his fantasy distorted by pain.” Will they wait for a change? Will they find the way for a peacefull toworld where can you just live, love and feel safe?

Eugene Rudashevsky is a winner of many book awards and an internationally renowned author. His book « the Raven » was distinguished by the « White Raven » list 2017 and already publised in italian by the publisher San Paolo and also translated in Arabic. Besides, he is a professional journalist, so, in addition to artistic skills his texts always impress with their factual accuracy and reliability.
