Founded in 1923, the independent family-owned l’école des loisirs turned to children’s books in 1965, becoming one of France’s biggest children’s publishers, with two subsidiaries (Moritz Verlag in Germany and Babalibri in Italy) and multiple imprints, including Pastel (Belgium), Kaléidoscope (France), Margot (France), and Rue de Sèvres and Label 619 (comics). With a catalogue of over 5,800 titles and 300 new titles per year (80% original), we enjoy a strong reputation among librarians, booksellers, and other book professionals. Our titles have been adapted into games, DVDs, podcasts, and more.
