La Coccinella and Salani are part of the Gruppo editoriale Mauri Spagnol (GeMS) which is a leading force in Italian publishing and distribution with over 60 million books distributed to more than 8.000 retail outlets, including bookshops and supermarkets. Its portfolio includes 11 publishing houses and 20 different imprints.
La Coccinella, established in 1977, created a revolutionary children’s publishing house with the mission to reinvent the very concept of children’s books, by turning them into interactive objects for even the youngest to touch, explore, and handle, offering a wide range of high-quality novelties, board books, sound books, bath books, picture books, and activity books. The series of “books with holes” published for the first time over 40 years ago remains a best-seller to this day. La Coccinella’s books still strengthened its presence in the Italian preschool market while retaining its international appeal. La Coccinella's authors and illustrators are Italian well-known artists, appreciated all over the world.
Salani, founded in 1862, it is among the oldest Italian publishing houses still in business today. It has been part of the GeMS Group since 1986 and specializes in high-quality juvenile literature that enriches and diversifies the offer of the Publishing Group. Its books target children between 6 and 13 years old, offering fiction and non-fiction titles.
