In April 1950, CWI（China Welfare Institute）President Soong Ching Ling (Madame Sun Yat-sen) founded CWI Children’s Epoch Magazine House. In November 2002, China Welfare Institute Publishing House was established. These two publishing houses merged in August 2007 to form a comprehensive one that covers books, newspapers and magazines and the new publishing house adopted the name China Welfare Institute Publishing House Co., Ltd. The publishing house consists of two book editing departments, newspaper and magazine editing departments, Shanghai International Children’s Culture School and Shanghai Children’s Epoch Benesse Culture Development Co., Ltd, etc. Taking Soong Ching Ling’s thought of “give the most precious to children” as its publishing policy , the publishing house has published more than 800 kinds of books, covering topics from pre-school education, children’s literature, scientific knowledge, research on Soong Ching Ling and after-school education study, etc. A large number of its books have won national honors for children’s publications.
