Shanghai People’s Publishing House (SPPH), established in March, 1951, as one of the first member institutes of Shanghai Century Publishing Group in February, 1999, is a renowned comprehensive publishing house on social sciences in China. The major publications of SPPH are academic works and popular books of politics, philosophy, law, economy, history, culture, and society, etc. For over six decades, having been the important organization of theme publishing and the highland of academic publishing with the accumulation of profound culture, SPPH has also been the cradle of bestsellers. It has published a large number of books of great influence and significance, including publications with national awards and nationwide popular books, such as Atlas of the People's Republic of China, Compilation of Oriental Renditions, Series of Contemporary International Politics, General Chronicle of Chinese Culture, A General History of China, The Complete Works of Zhang Taiyan, and Legal Information Series in the Period of the Later Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.
